Just before 2:00 am today, Five Points and area companies responded to a residential structure fire in the 300 Block of Mary St., Richardson Park. Engine 17 arrived as the second engine and crews assisted with fire attack.

An Elsmere Police Department officer, and two members of Elsmere Tower 16, located a person trapped inside the rear door and pulled them out of the building. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital in serious condition by New Castle County Paramedics.

There was heavy damage to the house. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

Five Points was assisted by units from Elsmere Fire Company No.1, Minquas Fire Company #1, Belvedere Fire Company, Cranston Heights Fire Company, Mill Creek Fire Company, Wilmington Manor Fire Company and Wilmington Fire.
